It's been raining in Florence recently, so our big plans of looking nice and doing stuff have sort of disintegrated into eating stuff and sitting around. But, I do have some quality photos, as you can see by the lead above. That one is what I like to call: "Martin's thoughts on the price of the jacket." Actually, it could have been me just taking a bad photo, but I like to supply the fun inner monologue nonetheless!! :) Though, the below dialogue did happen:
Me: I don't know, I thought it flattered you.
Martin: Did he really think I was going to buy a member's only jacket? Please!!
On the last really warm and sunny day (sunday) I took some of pictures of the Arno. Which is SO beautiful. I have been lucky to see a lot of beautiful things in my life, including places like Cape Town and Machu Picchu, but there is something special about the Arno.

And then, there is the power of leather and fur, united into one jacket! And yes, it does inspire some silliness!!

Finally, I have a few thoughts on carbs. As Martin and I start planning our trip to Monaco (!!) we realize that we need to look good. And we also realize that we live in carb land. Yet, YET, most of the Italians we see are TINY. The overweight people seems to be mostly american (shocking I know). How do they do it? What secret are the Italians hiding from us? How are we going to fit into our crazy Monaco gear (bling and fur)??? These are the deep questions on my mind, and rest assured, I am on the case!

Keep blogging.
Let's share to the world.
Christie-
Monaco-
Didn't we visit the puppet museum when were there, those few years ago? I remember it being very neat. Check it out again, maybe.
Are there random salespeople following the blog now? I hope you are getting ad revenue at least! Anyway, love the leather and I have no insight onto the carb mystery. But I remember this from when we did Rome together! The Italians are SO small and the women seem to be born without hips. How is that.....?
Since it is only a week away until I leave I am starting to realize the power of Florence:
1). Carbs
2). Leather goods
3). More carbs
4). Skinny Italians eating carbs in their fabulous leather goods.
Ahh, Florence here I come!
Ps- Mimsy- I love the picture of you in the fur. It reminds me of Afternoon Attitude!
Beware the fur, I am likely to pelt you with koolaid (ade?) or some such upon your return. Well, probably not, it means I would have to actually see you in the fur and with as much as I get out lately, highly unlikely. Is a good shot though.
SO, um, yeah, what is with those random other bloggers? Who's world are they sharing?? And does success want to give you in particular a job? Seemingly so.
Parting thought-- on carbs and Italians. I noticed the young were slim, but the older ones, not so. Perhaps things have changed, but I am guessing it is 1. metabolic 2. more exercise to ride on a scooter (think pilates, abs control, etc) than to drive or ride in car 3. cigarettes 4. coffee (3 and 4 being the real french reason, no matter what the books say). and I suspect 5. Italians don't eat their own carbs, just use them to lure in tourists.
